Wherever they may have come from, and wherever they may have gone,
unicorns live inside the true believer’s heart.
Which means as long as we can dream, there will be unicorns. – Bruce Coville

Perhaps it’s a thing nowadays for little girls to love unicorns. My little girl is no different. She loves unicorns… that and tutus!

She’s been a big fan of unicorns and tutus for quite some time but that day, when she was playing with her cuddly unicorn and wearing her favourite tutu, out of nowhere, inspiration struck.

The words “unicorn in a tutu” just popped in my head. It lingered there for quite some time until the idea of a story started brewing in my mind.

Why a unicorn in a tutu? I don’t know for sure. But if I need to come up with an answer now, maybe because a tutu would make a great mythical creature for a book character more relatable and lighthearted. Just like how unicorn toys are so cute and colourful and give that warm and fuzzy feeling.

But what do I really know about unicorns? Honestly, not much other than that they are majestic mythical creatures. Magical. So magical that they make me think that anything is possible. That there is hope. Like rainbows and spring give us hope. The feeling that something good is going to happen no matter what.

Put all those together, that is what The Unicorn in a Tutu is about. It is a simple children’s book with a whimsical character that shows good things do happen.

Here’s a read out if you would like a sneak peek:

If you decide to check it out on kindle or paperback, it would be wonderful if you can let me know what you think of it. 🙂

  1. #thesatsesh ssshhh don’t tell anyone, but i dont like unicorns. (I know), Im a pink princess and rainbows and unicorns just don’t do it for me, I do however adore children literature and my son will think a unicorn wearing a tutu is hilarious. Thanks for joining us, how many books have you published? I love the art work

  2. I think it’s a great idea and a wonderful book title! I loved Unicorns when I was a child and for all of the reasons you gave. They are majestic and magical. They offer hope and joy. There is something just wonderful about them. My favorite cartoon movie growing up was The Last Unicorn. I wore out the VHS watching that movie and that ages me lol. #BloggerClubUK (Yeah I’m like a week late on this linky)
