“A wandering mind can lead to wondering which can lead to something productive if you let it.” – This Scribbler Mum
According to the dictionary, wandering is when you move aimlessly from place to place while wondering is about curiosity and the need to know something. Interesting words that sound alike and spelled almost exactly the same. Interesting two words that best describe my mind lately when I have a bit of a quiet time.
Wandering and wondering. To describe time (particularly my quiet time) spent this way sounds like a bit of a waste of time doesn’t it? Well, on the one hand, it can be. I mean, to just let my mind jump from one train of thought to the next with no particular direction whatsoever, and then start wondering and spending time trying to find answers to silly questions – is a waste of time.
But on the other hand, it can actually be productive. How? Well, as my goal this year is to self-publish more books and use my creativity more, I find that my wandering mind actually takes me to a lot of different ideas – big and small, simple and complicated, real and fantasy. And as I aimlessly go through these pile of ideas in my head, I also end up stumbling upon some curious things that lead me to wonder and find a path where I am able to put a puzzle together piece by piece until I solve it.
So, where have these wandering and wondering led me so far this year? I finished and self-published my fourth children’s book Spotty & Doodles Wander and Wonder. 🙂
How about you? Where is your wandering and wondering taking you?

I love the rekationship between wander and wonder. They are both linked to creativity and knowledge but we assume they are slow and less productive than focussed direction. Thanks for linking up with #globalblogging
