Today, I am – Focused

Welcome to the sixth post on my positivity series. If you haven’t read this series before, you can find my previous post here or jump all the way to the first one here.

“Much like using a camera, I like to zoom in and focus on what’s good and blur out the bad.” – This Scribbler Mum

I love days when I am inspired to work on a project and when I do, I am so focused that my mind works like a well-oiled machine. Like nothing will cause it to break down. I am so concentrated that the stream of ideas is non-stop and no obstacle is unsolvable. And when I am finally finished, that sense of release after succeeding makes you feel like you’re on top of the world.

It is a great feeling.

Focus is a powerful skill.

In the movies, it can literally move objects. In reality, although it may not give me telekinetic powers, it can do a lot of things.

Focus helps me achieve my goals. When I keep my aim on my goals, I am able to stay on track until I get to it.

Focus helps me think more clearly. When I am concentrating on one thing, it is easier to deal with it because I am not thinking about a hundred things at the same time.

Focus is like mind workout. It helps improve my thinking ability and learn things faster.

Focus is like mindfulness. It helps me escape the chaos for a little bit when I need to reset. Just like focusing on a project helps me leave too much input in the background for a little bit until I am ready to deal with them better.

Focus is a powerful thing. Because of this, a word of caution – something positive or negative can come from it if we choose. Focusing is a conscious effort. Choose your point of focus wisely.

Having said that, I am choosing to focus on the good and brighter side of things and blurring out the bad. I am choosing to focus on what will give me positive energy and ignore the negativity. I am choosing to drown out anything that puts me down and focus on achieving something to give myself that great feeling of being on top of the world.

Today, I am focused.

  1. This is such a great post! I’m trying to do that more in my day to day life. It’s taking time to retrain my brain not to focus on the negatives when they happen but to let them go 🙂 you’ve definitely helped me see it in a different way. Although I do wish focus could give me telekinetic powers!

  2. I think it’s absolutely critical to acknowledge negativity, if it’s productive to do so. Meaning don’t discount racism, sexism, etc. I also think focusing on it can really change how you view the world. Focusing on the positive puts everything into perspective so that we don’t accidentally slip into “negative nancy” mode. #GlobalBlogging

    1. Indeed! One of my philosophies in life is acknowledge the negatives, address them and move on focusing on the positives. There are already too many “negative nancies” in this world and I refuse to give them more right to exist by dwelling on them than necessary. 🤣

  3. #thesatsesh I have a spin on this, accomplishment – so when I’ve seen a task through, I feel satisfied, tick the ‘to do’ list and ‘ta-da’ i feel great. I guess its the same as focus, or may be the step after it? okay – now I’ve confused myself. Still i love accomplishments and often recognise them like i do gratitude moments.

  4. Yes! Focus can be such a difficult thing to achieve and yet it’s such a brilliant thing. Being able to focus on a particular project, and on what’s right in front of you, is essential for your mental health in my opinion. Thanks for sharing with #fortheloveofBLOG

  5. I love it when I feel focused, sadly it doesn’t happen as often as I like. Great tip to focus on the positive things, I can try and do that even when my mind is feeling chaotic
